MedLEE and the CIS
- Interaction with the Radiology Department
- At CPMC, the Radiology Department performs 1000+ exams daily. Most of these reports are in the form of free text.
- Free text can be stored in the Clinical Database, but cannot be used by other systems in that form.
- MedLEE processes and encodes radiology reports in the Radiology Department database automatically for the Clinical Database.
- Interaction with the Medical Entities Dictionary (MED)
- The MED is used as a MedLEE's controlled vocabulary to ensure consistency with the Clinical Database
- The MED is used by MedLEE to assist in synonym resolution, disambiguation and limiting the granularity of qualifiers
- Uses for MedLEE encoded data
- The encoded output of MedLEE can be utilized by the CIS to trigger alerts in the Medical Logic Modules.
- The data can be summarized for review or retrospective research
- Data mining
