Associate Research Scientist
Columbia University’s Department of Biomedical Informatics is seeking an Associate Research Scientist. The position is open to a researcher with strong experience in cancer genetics to join the Rabadan lab. The successful candidate will take part in a cutting-edge project on untangling the molecular biology of cancer and will develop mathematical and computational tools to extract useful biological information from large data sets from next generation sequencing technology. The candidate will work in a highly multidisciplinary environment and will support and interface the analysis of several projects from different lab members.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in computer science, bioinformatics, or similar with demonstrable computational skills.
Applicants must demonstrate strong publication track record in cancer genetics; demonstrated team work experience; demonstrated leadership experience in cancer genetics arena; experience in processing and analysis of large genomics data sets (WGS, WES, RNA-seq, or ChIP-seq) in bioinformatics/molecular biology setting; proficiency working in a Linux environment and with Unix shell scripting; proficiency with computational analysis, algorithms, and mathematical modeling; extremely good work ethic; ability to multitask and work in team and multidisciplinary environment.
